Like in any group, community or organisation, there are always changes being made in OHP. The first big change to take place was when Sr Carole was installed as Prioress and Sisters Dorothy Stella and Heather Francis took their sabbaticals.
Sr Jocelyn is now our Sub-Prioress, and Sr Karan is back at the Priory from St Oswald's, as Guest Sister and Parish Sister in the Whitby Parish.
Sr Louisa Ann has joined Sisters Anita and Pam in Dormanstown, and is now working in the parish of Holy Trinity, North Ormesby, where she is also involved with the Middlesbrough Foodbank and the Methodist Asylum Project (MAP).
Sr Benedicta Anne has throughly enjoyed her six month visit to the UK, and has spent time at both St Oswald's and the Priory. She has now returned to Ghana, but we hope that she will be able to come to the UK again. Sr Mavis is due to go to Ghana in the next few weeks. It has been very good to hear the news of the Order's work in Ghana from the Sisters who live and work there. The vocation school in Sunyani, HOPWOSC, is going from strength to strength with the number of young women who wish to learn new skills growing all the time.
Sisters Alison and Erika have both joined Archbishop Sentamu on parts of his Pilgrimage of Prayer around the Diocese. He started the Pilgrimage at the start of Advent, visiting the Whitby Deanery and we were honoured to be providing him with accomodation at the Priory.
During this Lent, we are using the resources supplied by Embrace the Middle East for our Lenten devotions. The Sisters at the Priory have been hosting members of the Priory Congregation for a weekly Lent group. In Redcar, Sr Anita has been helping to lead the Lent course in the Kirkleatham Parish, where they are using the book "Christ and the Chocolaterie", based on the film "Chocolat", and Sr Pam is helping with the St Peter's Lent group, using the "Leading your Church into Growth" material.
Sisters Janette and Linda have been attending the Lent Course at York Minster, which is using the theme "If Only."
Last weekend was the Lent Retreat at St Oswald's, lead by Sr Janet Elizabeth. The Sisters are now in preparation for the Holy Week & Easter retreat/prayer week.
We have also had to make the decision to allow our donkeys to be re-homed. Sr Jocelyn has written about the decision and events of their departure, which are in the below pdf download.
