Alleluia, Christ is Risen

He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!

On Holy Saturday, the below photographs were taken of the tomb, and of the figures of Mary Magdalene, Peter and John as they were waiting for Easter Day.

The tomb is closed, because the King sleeps.

Watching and waiting.

At the Priory, we tried something a little different this year.  The Vigil part of the service, including the new fire and the lighting of the Pascal Candle, was held on Holy Saturday in the evening, after sunset, and then we had a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am on Easter Day.  This allowed both Sisters and members of the Priory Congregation to be together for the Easter Eucharist, rather than having two separate services, one at dawn and then a second one for our Infirmary Sisters at 9.30.

In our Branch Houses, Sisters Alison and Erika joined us at the Priory, Sisters Janette and Linda were present at the many celebrations at York Minster, St Oswald's and their Holy Week retreatants also joined us at the Priory, and Sisters Anita, Pam and Louisa Ann were involved in the celebrations in the Parishes where they work in Redcar and North Ormesby.  Our Sisters in Ghana joined in with the local celebrations to Sunyani and Jachie.

We pray for a happy and holy Eastertide for everyone.
